Logo 2016 Olympics to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was introduced to the public, just hours before New Year 2011 celebration held at the Copacabana Beach.

In the logo, there are three human figures colored orange, green and blue like holding hands and dancing.

"Rio 2016 logo to send a message of passion and transformation. Passion residents Carioca (Rio resident designation) and Brazil in terms of sports and celebration," said President of the Committee for Rio 2016, Carlos Nuzman, as quoted by ESPN.

"And also the transformation that brought the Games to Rio and Brazil," said Nuzman.

This logo is based on four pillars, namely transmission of energy, diversity in harmony, nature is cheery and the Olympic spirit.

When the logo-making contest was opened, there are about 140 agencies participating, but then filtered until there are only eight. Finally, a team that includes 15 people from various disciplines and members of the Rio 2016 organizing committee chose the design created by a local agency, Tatil.

The event logo introduction was also attended by IOC President Jacques Rogge who previously took several days to review the preparation of Rio.

"I want to congratulate the team from Rio that its design was chosen as the logo of the Rio 2016. The logo is very innovative and creative. It strongly reflects the vision Rio and Brazil to the Olympics," added Rogge.
