Global IPv6 Day 'celebrated' on June 8, 2011. This is the time many companiesbegan offering Internet protocol-based services version 6 (IPv6) instead of version4 (IPv4) which is currently more widely used.
Delivered Symantec, in a statement received detikINET, Thursday (9/6/2011), the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 it also stores the security issues of interest.
For security aspects unrelated networks, migration would not be problematic.But for the associated network, cyber criminals believed to be in search ofweakness network and profile.
Therefore, said party Symantec, IPv6 Day can be a significant moment toincrease alertness. This transition is called as a situation where the threats that were not visible, will emerge slowly.
On the other hand, IPv6 also keep some important safety factor. For example,with a far more IP addresses available yag, cyber criminals will face a new challenge because the current becomes difficult to brute force an IP address.
IPv6 is also trying to control the interception of data alias sniffing with IPsecprotocol. This protocol is used for authentication and data encryption on thenetwork.
Related to migration to IPv6, Symantec recommends that the definition again,signatures and firewall rules are updated.
