Fernando Alonso not surprised by the fifth position that he can in the JapaneseGrand Prix qualifying. However, Ferrari is still set targets on the podium.

Alonso only fifth in qualifying session at Suzuka Circuit on Saturday(08/10/2011). Record his best time was almost half a second slower thanSebastian Vettel who mastered the pole.

"I'm not too surprised by this result: McLaren and Red Bull quicker than us all weekend and at least I was in front of (Mark) Webber," Alonso said in Autosport.

"I seem to have a season ticket for fifth place this year and at least it means Istart from the clean side of the tracks," he continued.

Although only the start of the fifth place, the former Renault driver is still hoping tofinish in a podium position.

"Tomorrow I expect a significant degradation of the tire will be a key feature of the race, with the possibility of a few pit stops, which means the strategy will play a very important role. We hope not experiencing the same problem in Singaporetwo weeks ago," Alonso beber.

"We will try and make the best choice and fight for a podium finish in the top, where it is a realistic target. Target win certainly less realistic: as we saw in the qualifying session, McLaren seemed very close to the Red Bull here," he said .
