Lewis Hamilton's performance was declining. Perhaps one reason is because of pressure from McLaren team-mate, Jenson Button, who otherwise appear prima middle.

"If you're honest, the first driver that you want to beat is your own teammates.We do not hide from it, and so did Lewis and Jenson. They were there to beat each other, but Jenson was okay," he continued.
The existence of competition, said Whitmarsh, actually favored by McLaren. Heeven did the two riders that want to beat each other.
"Of course, as Lewis is a talented racer himself, but he would not like to beatanyone, let alone by Jenson. While outside they have a fantastic relationship,but Lewis would not like to beat his team mate."
