Stop producing the Touch Pad does not mean making a Hewlett-Packard (HP)completely out of business tablets. U.S. origin vendors are still continuing the other tablet product, namely Slate.
The recent news says that HP will release a second Slate based Windows OS.Newer Slate sized 8.9 inch will be priced from USD 699 and is immediately available globally in late November. Similarly, as quoted on Thursday(3/11/2011).
"HP is dedicated to the tablet PC category and continue to listen to consumer desires. We develop products with the best in their business needs," said DanForlenza as Vice President and General Manager of Commercial Managed ITsegment in the Personal Systems Group (PSG) HP.
Hear HP will use Microsoft's OS in Slate, of course, quite surprising. Since last year, when HP was actively working jealous Slate to challenge the iPad,suddenly heard the news that HP would dump Windows 7 tablet and prefer to replace it with the Palm Web OS.
HP reportedly not very pleased with the overall performance of Windows 7 inSlate tablet. OS is said to be too wasteful of power when used in tablets.
Even so, the fate of Slate is more fortunate than the TouchPad. As is known,HP decided to menstop TouchPad production is less successful in the market, since losing to the iPad and Android tablet. But HP seems to still not give up and still try their luck with the update Slate.
