ith what has been achieved throughout his career, finishing on the podium is a normal thing for Michael Schumacher. But third place in the 2012 European Grand Prix, have very special meaning for the seven-times world champion.
Schumacher finished third place in the European Grand Prix at Valencia Street Circuit on Sunday (24/06/2012) night. He was behind the champion Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen in the order of two.
The success of the podium at the Valencia track to be very special for Schumacher as this is the first time he managed to do since making a comeback in the year 2010.
For the record, the best finishing position achieved by the German is the order of four. While the final podium as he can is a champion in China in 2006.
"Surely I am not thinking about the podium, even at the end of the race though. When I crossed the finish line was on the team asked me what position I finished," Schumacher said as quoted by Autosport.
"That's something I did not expect, I do not notice it because I was very busy in the last period of the race, (Lewis) Hamilton and (Pastor) Maldonado got into trouble, so I started counting since that moment," said Schumacher.
Throughout his career, it's an 155 number for Schumacher's podium. But after waiting for two and a half seasons, success in Valencia felt very special for him.
"Those moments you enjoy it very clear and it's nice to be back (on the podium) after so long. We almost did it a few times, and it finally happened in a spectacular and on a difficult path to overtaking," Schumacher straightforward
